In Australia, it’s easy to miss the unmistakable shift to electric vehicles. Whilst the Australian market has been a laggard in adopting electric and hybrid vehicles, in comparison to overseas markets, internationally countries are already building plans for a 100% electric car future.
China made headlines this month, announcing plans to end the sale of petrol and diesel cars – joining the ranks of countries developing diesel and petrol vehicle deadlines.
India, France, Britain and Norway all want to completely ditch petrol and diesel cars in favour of cleaner vehicles, developing hard cut-off dates to cease all sales. Austria, China, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal, Korea and Spain have also set sales targets for electric vehicles sales and the decline of diesel and petrol cars.
